Facial Volume Enhancements
Why it matters.
Facial volume enhancements involve the placement of a prescribed gel-like substance beneath the skin’s surface to restore or enhance facial structure. Because this process involves multiple injection points and the introduction of a foreign material, careful aftercare is essential to support healing, minimise complications, and optimise results.
Care Guidelines.
Apply a cold compress intermittently for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling.
Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated areas unless instructed.
Sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first night.
Stay hydrated and follow a nutrient-rich diet to support healing.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or alcohol for 24–48 hours.
Refrain from applying makeup for at least 12 hours.
In-Clinic Support.
Schedule a review appointment at 2 weeks to assess treatment results and determine if further refinement is needed.
LED Light Therapy may be recommended to reduce swelling or bruising and support skin recovery.
Plan your next volume enhancement treatment in line with your practitioner’s advice to maintain results.
For long-term outcomes, we recommend a tailored skin treatment plan to improve and maintain overall skin quality alongside injectable treatments.
Concerns.
After your facial volume enhancement, some swelling, redness, and bruising are common and usually settle within a few days. However, please contact the clinic immediately if you experience severe or worsening pain, significant or persistent swelling, unusual lumps, skin discolouration (such as whitening, dusky, or blue tones), signs of infection (redness, warmth, pus, or fever), or any visual changes including blurred vision, sudden vision loss, or eye pain. If vision changes or severe pain occur, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
What to expect.
It is normal to experience redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising around the treated areas. Small lumps or asymmetry may be present in the first few days while the product settles into the tissue. These effects generally improve within 1–2 weeks.
Day 1–2: Gentle cleansing only, no active ingredients.
Day 3–5: Resume hydrating serums and moisturiser; avoid acids, retinol, or exfoliation.
Day 5–7: Gradually reintroduce actives if tolerated.
Ongoing: Daily SPF 30+ is essential to protect skin and prolong results.
Incorporating Skincare.
Results from facial volume enhancements are temporary and typically last 6–18 months depending on the area treated, product used, and individual factors. A personalised treatment plan will help ensure results remain balanced and natural over time.
