Post Treatment Care

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Treatment

Why it matters.

PRP uses the platelet-rich portion of your own blood to stimulate tissue repair, collagen production, and skin rejuvenation. During treatment, tiny injection points are created, temporarily compromising the skin barrier. Following aftercare is essential to protect these sites, support healing, and maximise your results.

Care Guidelines.

Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for 12 hours.

Do not apply makeup until the following day (unless advised otherwise).

Use a gentle cleanser and cool water only for the first 24 hours.

Apply a soothing, non-active moisturiser to support healing.

Stay out of direct sun exposure and always use SPF 30+ once able.

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot showers for 24–48 hours.

Refrain from alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications (unless prescribed) for 24 hours, as these may interfere with healing.

In-Clinic Support.

Schedule a review appointment at 2 weeks to assess results and plan any further treatments.

LED Light Therapy is highly recommended immediately after treatment or within 24–48 hours, and ideally 3 times in the first week, to support healing, reduce inflammation, and enhance collagen stimulation.

If you are concerned about bruising, we suggest purchasing a bruising cream to assist with recovery, your practitioner can help you with recommendations.

Plan your next PRP session according to your practitioner’s advice, as a series of treatments is usually recommended for optimal results.

For long-term skin health, we also recommend following a personalised skin treatment plan to maintain results and improve overall skin quality.

Concerns.

It is normal to experience some redness, swelling, tenderness, or small bruises after PRP treatment, which should settle within a few days. Contact the clinic immediately if you notice worsening or severe pain, large or spreading bruising, signs of infection such as warmth, pus, or increasing redness, persistent swelling, or any unusual symptoms that do not improve. Your safety is our priority, so please reach out if you are concerned at any stage of your recovery.

What to expect.

It’s normal to experience redness, mild swelling, or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites. Some tenderness may occur, and the skin may feel warm or sensitive for the first 24–48 hours. These effects typically resolve quickly as your skin begins the healing and regeneration process.

Day 1–2 (am/pm): Gentle cleanser, soothing moisturiser, SPF in am only.

Day 3–4 (am/pm): Continue gentle care, introduce hydrating serums if approved.

Day 5–7 (am/pm): Resume most of your normal skincare, avoiding harsh actives (AHAs, BHAs, retinol).

Day 7-Ongoing: You may return to your full skincare regime unless advised otherwise by your practitioner.

Incorporating Skincare.

PRP results develop gradually as collagen builds, with improvements often visible after several weeks. Multiple sessions are usually recommended for best results, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months.
